Solution To Your Profile Could Not Be Opened In Google Chrome In Linux

Are you getting a popup every time you open Google chrome in your Linux OS that says – “Your profile could not be opened …”

Here is how to solve it. I’ve tested this on Ubuntu 14.04 and Google chrome v41.0.2272.76 (64-bit). Click here to know your chrome version.

rm -rf ~/.config/google-chrome/Default/Web\ Data

Here is the explanation :

We are actually deleting the Web Data ( it may be a file or a folder ) .

Reopen your chrome browser and the annoying popup should be gone by now. You should checkout the settings if they are intact or changed. Click here to go to settings page.

If you are still getting the popup try disconnecting your Google account and restart the browser. If still not fixed, re installing the browser should fix it.

Let me know how this worked out for you in comments below.
